Packing List for the Trip

FYI: It is very hot and dusty in Nicaragua 

 

Each of the following items is recommended for personal travel:

  1. Set of light-weight scrubs for each day at clinic (5)

  2. Personal hygiene items (also include baby wipes)

  3. Personal OTCs (sennakot-s, pepto, ibuprofen, loperamide, allergy)

  4. Bug spray (DEET products are recommended for vector-borne disease)

  5. Toilet paper (most clinics have outhouses)

  6. Hand sanitizer (small for personal use) 

  7. Snacks (granola/protein bars, nuts, etc.)

  8. Sunscreen

  9. Sunglasses

  10. Bandana or mask (for dustly travel to clinic)

  11. Refillable water bottle (may consider carrying 2)

  12. Backpack (for day trips to clinics) 

  13. Camera

  14. Earplugs (for snoring roommates)

  15. Passport and health insurance paperwork

  16. Cash (mostly for souvenious, drinks and a few meals)

  17. Bathing suit (hotel pool)

  18. Light clothing for downtime and dinner 

  19. Otoscope w/tips, BP cuff, stethoscope, thermometer (for Med. Students-required, for PharmD and auxillary persons- optional)

  20. Calculator (for PharmD-required)

 

Each person must bring the following mandatory items for trip contribution: 

  1. 1 pkg. per student Post-It-Notes

  2. 1 box per student small snack size ziplock bags (for clinic use)

  3. 1 large bottle per student hand sanitizer (for clinic use)

  4. 1 container per student Antiseptic Wipes (for clinic use)

  5. 2 highlighters, 2 sharpies, 1 box of pens per student
